Week One Reflection
Hello All,
This week in class we created our blog. I think I was mostly surprised at how easy it was to set up. The usefulness of blogs in education has been discussed at length. Some of the idea we've come up with are very duable. I really like the idea of using a blog as a resource for teacher to communicate about how to modify lessons, change techniques, and improve instruction. Blogs would also be useful in creating a place for students to be retaught on material they missed or did not understand in class. It could be a place for parents to familiarize themselves with what is being done in class and to know how to work with their child at home on assignments. While I am a little concerned about the time it would take to post all of this information I am fairly confident that once students knew how to use it, it may prove to be a time saver in the long run. If students knew how to access the information the teacher may have to do less reteaching in the classroom. Technology is a wonderful asset in the classroom as long as students have access to it at home and the school is proficient in technological capabilities. I know that right now a blog may not prove useful with my age group or classroom due to the lack of technological resources in the school as well as lack of understanding on general computer use. Fourth grade may be too young...however, this tool may be very useful with the older age groups.
I look forward to further discussion on technology in the classroom.

Amy - Hello. Great first couple of posts and even a picture! In terms of time needed to maintain a blog it is really up to the individual. I have seen teacher blogs where all they basically do it post lesson plans for the week. Very simple but it is very important to parents who want to know what is happening in class, homework due, etc.
Thanks.
